The metalic green is objectively the best color on these, I’m not even sorry. This one was even a manual!
Unrelated, why don’t the steelies on this Kia have holes all the way around?

Not blue - I don’t see a
seal of approval coming your way anytime soon my
friend.

The seal is a social construct.

I like Spirited Green.
I just happen to like Clear Water Blue more.

Regarding the wheels; I did some digging, and it turns out that there are two versions of the steel wheels available (
these are listed for the Hyundai Accent, but that doesn’t matter
)
The 13 hole version can accept TPMS sensors
, while the 15 hole version cannot accept TPMS sensors
. These cars use a TPMS sensor that is integrated with the valve stem.
Now, take a look where the holes on the 13 hole version are missing... notice how they are directly opposite of the valve stem? My best guess is that this was Hyundai/Kia’s way of getting the wheel to be closer balanced with the TPMS sensor. It seems kind of ridiculous
, but I guess it works.

Blue is a good color. Ranking non-beige and beige-adjacent colors such as black, gray, dark blue and red, which is the beige of actual colors, in ascending order of radness, I would have to go dark green, purple, orange light blue, yellow, a green as above, pink.

yep, that green is super cool, but I like that teal-ish metalic blue just a smidge better. I wish Mazda would offer some of these more interesting colors on their larger volume vehicles... folks would pay extra for them.

There's a metallic green Sonic I pass daily with the vanity plate 'PITVIPER'. Clearly more bark than bite, but it gets bonus points for owning it.

If I were to have a Mazda2 (excellent choice for its category when this car was new as well as now
, and worth the trip to Puerto Rico if you don’t want the CX-3 or Yaris iA for a new one, even as a hatch!
), it’d be this color. It’s just so fun! It was the first color I learned how to mix when I started working at my current job all those years ago, and I painted my walkie-talkie that color (which one of the trainers “borrowed” and took back to her store). The blue and red options are also very good
, but this color is just perfect. Plus then you
can give
the car
fun nicknames, like Kermit or Green Machine and such (too bright to be Yoda) if so desired
.

As for the steelies I would imagine it’s to offset the weight of the valve stem especially if there’s a TPMS sensor attached to it. Otherwise the only other option would be aero, but that doesn’t make much sense either. It’d be cheaper to have the hole so there’s less material,
and less
weight to move.

Maybe on the weight thing, but nobody else does it. And definitely not an aero thing, this was a moderately rusted old Kia.

Makes sense to me. I had never seen a wheel like that before. I kind of like it, honestly.
